My top Health and Fitness Tips
10:01It's great to be feeling fit and lean. However, I know it's hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle all of the time. So here are some simple tips to keep healthy and fit all the time:
DRINK! Water is so so important. I can not stress this enough. Water helps the digestion of food, regulates body temperature and carries both nutrients and oxygen. The best thing about water is that it 'fills' you. I tend to drink a lot throughout the day and this will stop the need for snacking, as your body will feel more full. To make myself drink more I always keep a bottle on my desk, this way I keep sipping throughout the day. Another great way to drink more is to use fruit infused water. Some really easy ones are: strawberry, lime and cucumber or just a simple lemon and lime.
Exercise is so key to being fit, you can be healthy with a good diet but in my eyes to be fit you need to do proper exercise. My top exercise tip is to focus on intensity rather then length. Working hard for a long period of time will burn more fat, opposed to working at a moderate intensity for a longer period of time. Also, do not be afraid to use weights. Trust me, you won't 'bulk' up. Using weights are so important in helping your body tone. Only use a small amount but they help keep your body working extra hard. Do something you love. Trust me doing something you enjoy will make you want to work out so much more, this could be dancing, football, yoga or hockey. Some of you may already know but for me it was athletics.
Make sure you eat enough. Starving yourself won't help at all. You make your body think that it won't get any food, so every ounce of food it gets it will cling on to and store. This will only make you gain weight and store fat (not ideal!). Eat a strong balanced diet with 3 good meals a day, yes that does mean breakfast. Although it's so easy to miss breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. Many people say to have breakfast the as the biggest of the day, but come on let's be real this is so hard to do. So I say eat lunch big. This way you can get the energy you need to fuel you for the rest of the day.
Fuel yourself with nutritional snacks. Of course we get hungry between meals, but we must fuel our body with nutritional snacks. I think the best snacks are things such as fresh fruit and yogurt or you can even make your own. However I know that sometimes It's hard to, so these are some of my favourite snacks for when you are on the go (and yes these contain chocolate.) It's hard to fight cravings and every girl needs a little bit of chocolate. To beat this craving, I love these rice cakes with dark chocolate and this superseed bar.
Look good, work hard. It may just be me, but I love it when I'm wearing a great workout outfit. I feel 10x more motivated and am more likely to work hard. I do love my branded sportswear, but now I'm a little short of cash I have fallen in love with Forever 21's sportswear. Personally I think the quality is just as good as Nike and Adidas, plus there's so much more variety. Along with the clothing theme it is so important to get yourself a good quality sports bra and trainers. This helps make exercising so much more comfortable. This is one of my favourites from Victoria Secret.
Have a rest day. What? I'm actually telling you not to exercise to be fit! Your body needs to rest, during this time your muscles will repair themselves and it gives you a rest. On my rest days I love to relax, I often have a long bubble bath and really pamper myself all day.

DeleteI always bribe myself with cute workout clothes to go workout in, i must say it truly does help! The anticipation to put on the new cute sports bra makes the gym more appealing :)

Fab tips Harriet! I don't drink enough water, I really need to it's just not my preferred drink but I need to remember how good it is for me! I need to get my bum back to the gym also!

I never use to, but I've trained myself too. Honestly try infused water, it's lovely!
