How to tackle Body Confidence

05:11

Being confident in your body is hard for everyone; no matter what we do society tells us it’s wrong to love yourself. In this generation we are flooded with ‘body goals’ pictures all over every form of social media . We are being told how to look and what is attractive and what’s not. Only being shown that one body type can be beautiful , no wonder eating disorders are becoming increasingly common. In fact we are all beautiful no matter what size or shape we are but what is key is that we are all different.  Individuality is an essential, because at the end of the day its boring being like everyone else. You are who you are and you can’t change everything so let’s love ourselves!

I work out, eat healthy and I am still not happy with body, I’m constantly comparing myself to the body that society deems as attractive. The media has taught me Im not beautiful, seeing size 10 models labelled as ‘plus sized’ is why in this generation we hate ourselves and feel overweight when we clearly arent. When we still aren’t happy with our body, when we work so hard we need to realise we can’t change everything. Somethings are just natural, and everyone’s built differently, so Im not like the girl I saw on Instagram? So what??? My body is healthy and therefor it’s beautiful.

body-confidence-quotes-2

There’s nothing wrong with getting inspiration from someone, but make it realistic to your body shape. There’s no point trying to look like Kim K when you are naturally different.  Find someone with a similar body type to you, because Im sure they will love something that you hate, this allows you to feel good about the things you don’t and allows you to see someone like you who you deem as beautiful.

Accept your body, not everything can be perfect and not everything can be changed. We must accept who we are naturally. But if it can be changed there’s not point sitting around crying doing nothing about it. Get out there and do something , hard work will show results and help increase positive energy that will increase your confidence.

DON’T STRESS, everybody has a day where they sit and eat everything they see, to me this doesn’t even make me feel better. I love the taste of the food at the time, but after I’m full of regret and feel tired and bloated. Eating healthy makes you feel so much better, allowing you to feel energised and good about yourself. Whenever I eat well, I feel healthy it making me feel better about myself.

Why when someone gives us a compliment on our body do we automatically respond with ‘no its not’ or ‘Ew no I hate it? If someone is complementing you, they obviously mean it. They wouldn’t waste their time saying it if they didn’t actually think it. So just thank them and realise you are attractive. There will always be someone who finds your body beautiful.

Tell yourself you look good and then you will look good. Wear your favourite clothes, do your bomb ass makeup , allow yourself to feel confident about yourself, because confidence becomes beauty.

I don’t look like the ‘body goals’ and nor will I ever

  1. I recently saw pictures of myself 30 years ago. Wow! I was a beauty! Sadly, I didn't feel it then. Fortunately, I love the woman I see in the mirror every day now. ;) xoM

  3. Very true! The looks and specific body types that are acceptable, as stated by social media, are not 100% realistic. We need to see that and try to appreciate our body for what it is. If you're not 100% comfortable with a certain part, there definitely are healthy changes that can be made. It is all okay as long as you are aware that there's a million more things that make you beautiful but go completely unnoticed due to the frustration of trying to meet that standards set by society.

  5. Thank you for dropping by on my blog earlier; it's good to have found yours, I'll follow it now!

I've had body confidence issues for as long as I can remember, and always disagree if someone pays me a compliment. It's a hard thing to overcome, to be more confident in yourself. You're so right - Being healthy, being alive, makes you beautiful, just as you are. Everyone is different and that's what should be celebrated. Lovely post! xx

  11. This was really necessary for me to hear right now, as my most recent post is about my own body image issues. Heck, I've written several posts about body image issues. It's good to hear other people think about the same things, and they have positive outlooks.

    I'll do my best!

  12. I'm glad you enjoyed this, remember you are beautiful!! I've gone through stages of hating myself, but sometimes we've got what we've got and we can't change it, so no point letting something we can't control effect us!!

  13. Thank you for this wonderful post :) I am currently working on getting rid of my eating disorder yes, it is hard to set a standard for a healthy body when everyone is craving to be the slimmest version of themselves possible.
Loving myself and loving my body is the hardest challenge I have ever faced but eventually I'll make it. Setting goals wich are (controversial to society) not slimmer or thinner or fitter but just a little more.
Maybe one day I'l accept myself and be able to be healthy...

  17. Self care and self compassion - easy to say - harder to practice. It has taken me years to accept my body the way it is. I now focus on what my body can do for me- movement is so important to me that function over fashion is my new motto. You bring up so many good points about expectations of others and judgements that we all need to let go of.
