Remember Remember the 5th of November

10:55

So today in the UK we celebrate bonfire night also known as Guy Fawkes Night.

Bonfire night is primarily celebrated in the UK. Guy Fawkes was a leading figure in the ‘Gunpowder Plot’ in 1605, when a group tried to blow up the House of Lords. This was unsuccessful so we celebrate this. The main event of bonfire night is the fireworks, but they have only been added in recent centuries. Normally their is a bonfire where a model 'guy' is burned on the fire to celebrate that he was caught. (little bit harsh I know, but we can't change tradition)

Yesterday evening I went to my local university fireworks and it was absolutely amazing. My normal fireworks at home are great, but this was so much better! I've always watched fireworks in silence with the occasional oohhh's and ahhh's but this time they played upbeat songs to get us all going and synced the fireworks with the music. This gave made every bit look 10x more impressive. I honestly felt like I was back watching Disney dreams at some points. (Oh how I wish I was)

I also can't help myself and grab a packet of sparklers, (yes I know I'm 18)!! When a pack is less than £2 you can't say no. My friends and I sadly had too much fun with these, but trust me they are great for all ages.

Let me know if any of you plan on celebrating Bonfire Night tonight too.

Lots of Love

  3. The only time I got to celebrate Guy Fawkes was when I lived in Botswana. Strangely, they celebrated it there, but maybe just to have some activities. It's a sleepy place. :)
Speaking of Fireworks, I must say that Disneyland's "Kiss Goodnight" is the best. Have you experienced it? I don't think there is anything in the world that can compare. It must be the words and the Disney movies that have special meanings to us, individually...

  4. Never realised they celebrated there as I just thought it was really a British event! I've only been to the Paris Disneyland so I haven't! But I'm desperate to go to the ones in America!!! I'm a huge Disney fan!!

  5. It think they have some British influence 😊
You must go when you get a chance. Being English-speaking, the "Kiss Goodnight" will be best in English. I've been to HK Disney and it was strange to have everything being said translated to Chinese. I suppose they translate to French in Paris Disney. Although they translate to Spanish a lot of the announcements in Anaheim... but none in Kiss Goodnight. 😊💖
