How to: Tea Party
09:40
I may be only 18, but that doesn't mean that I don't love a classic middle aged tea party. I definitely have a massive sweet tooth, i'll choose cakes and biscuits over crisps and savoury foods any day. I thought I would share with you my favourite tea party tips and recipes for guaranteed sucess.
- FLOWERS, in my opinion there's nothing that adds to a table more, In this instance I chose some small yellow roses.
- Have a plain table cloth, it makes all the food stand out well. This time I picked white but, I also like light colours such as a faint pink/yellow/orange.
- Get everyone you're inviting to bring a cake, that way you don't have to do all the baking!
- Have a 'theme' and make sure all of your plates and stands fit with one another, this will give an overall great effect.
- Make sure you have more than enough.
- Have a good variety of food, I recommend: cakes, Patisserie, biscuits, cheesecakes, flapjack, scones and meringues. This way you can please everyone!
- Place the food in a decorated room to set the scene.
- Make plenty of tea!

Chocolate Cake
This chocolate cake is super rich but definitely to die for! A definite MUST have for any tea party.
Ingredients:
- 3 Large Eggs
- 100g Self raising flour
- 220g Caster sugar
- 220g Butter
- 150g Cocoa powder
- 50ml Double cream
- 50g Melted dark chocolate
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 160
- Mix all the all the dry ingredients together
- Add in the butter
- Add an egg in one at a time, to make sure everything is properly combined
- Pour in the milk
- Mix in the melted chocolate
- Grease the baking tray
- Pour into the baking tin and bake for around 40 minutes.
Ice with your favourite icing, a quick way to make this is by mixing 75g of butter with a tbsp of cream. Then adding 175g of icing sugar and a tbsp of cocoa powder. Decorate by grating the leftover chocolate.

ReplyDeleteGlad you've finally done it! Great to see your response!
ReplyDeleteThis post is absolutely adorable. I live in the U.S. so I will admit that I am so enamored by life across the pond! Anytime I come across a blogger from England or any other country than my own, but especially England ;), I love reading them. No one does a traditional tea party better than the English. What type of tea would you serve at this particular party? Would it be one type or several depending on the desserts? Does one type of tea pair better with sweets and another with savory desserts? Could you write a follow-up post to this one ;)? I'm hooked!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you really enjoyed this, however I am not a fan of tea. Such a shock to the entire population of England I know! So my mum made the tea, I know we had quite a few types but I'm not really into it all so I have no clue! Really sorry :)
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a tea drinker than a coffee drinker but I do appreciate a great cup of coffee now and then ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of a tea party. I am 34 years old and I would do this if I had enough people who would be interested in participating. The food spread you had on that table looked very appetizing.
ReplyDeleteIt's great! I recommend you do so!
